POWDERLY – Mary Margaret Dexter Wells, 90, of Powderly, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 31, 2015. She was surrounded by her family with whom she shared her love for Christ and for others. Her legacy includes her love of serving Christ and others, especially children and those in need. Her abounding love and service touched the lives of her children and grandchildren, her church family, friends, neighborhood, and surrounding community. She was known and loved for her willingness to feed those who were hungry, both spiritually and physically.
She was born in Muhlenberg County on January 25, 1925, to Eula Alice Higgins Dexter and James Riley Dexter. She was an active and loyal member of Powderly Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon Jackson Wells; a granddaughter, Heather Leighann Wells; sisters, Wanda Blanche Williams and Margie Dale Cary; brother, Irvin "Buster" Welborn, Jr.; sons-in law, Ernie McIntosh, Robert "Butch" Tucker, and Bobby Walker; and step-granddaughter, Teresa Walker Davis.
She is survived by three sons, David (Joan) Wells, Ronnie (Becky) Wells, and Tim (Sherry) Wells, all of Powderly; seven daughters, Shirley Walker, JoAnn Wells, Sandra McIntosh, Debbie (Ronnie) McIntosh, and Pam (Marshall) Jarvis, all of Powderly, Donna Tucker of Versailles, KY, and Beverly (Richard) Adcock of Cleaton.
She is survived by thirteen grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Jackie "Buddy" (Nancy) Estes, Mike Wells, Tracy Jamison, Stephanie (Billy) Evitts, Patrick (Demetria) Tucker, Cory (Amanda Shane) McIntosh, Allison (Michael) DuCoff, Lindsey Wells, Erin (Jon Michael) Jarvis, Cayce Jarvis, Kameron Adcock, Caleb Adcock, and Madison Wells. She is also survived by nine very special great-grandchildren, Michael David Wells, Autumn and Jackson Estes, Maggie Evitts, Aiden and Riley DuCoff, Xavier McIntosh, Isabella Tucker, and Payton Jarvis; two very special step-great-grandchildren Adrianna Workman and Parker Evitts; four sisters, Rosalie Kinkade and Charles Eulene "Tookey" Welborn, both of Central City, Barbara Evitts of Nebo, and Winnie Bruce of Powderly; and one brother, Wendell Welborn of Powderly.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 3, 2015, at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Kevin Evitts officiating. Burial in Memorial Gardens in Powderly. Visitation will be Thursday after 4:00PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
