GREENVILLE - Joshua Sims Bey, 72, of Greenville, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at his home. Mr. Bey was born August 8, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA. He was retired from the Philadelphia Navel Shipyard in 1993; afterwards, he became an OTR owner/operator, retiring in 2007. Mr. Bey was a Vietnam Veteran, having honorably served his country in two branches of the military: Army and Marines. He was awarded the Purple Heart twice. He was a caring, generous man with a great sense of humor. He loved God, his country, and family; he enjoyed traveling, spending time at the lake, and historical documentaries; and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter Jouette Henry #8. As a teen, he enjoyed success as a singer/guitarist with a Doo-wop group and his retirement afforded the opportunity to revisit his musical roots. Mr. Bey was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sims and Beatrice Sims; aunt Sara Bey; and brothers Joseph Sims Bey, Eliahu Sims Bey, Salome Sims Bey, Lawrence Green, and Franklin Green.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, S. Renee Bey of Greenville; son Christopher Bey of Greenville; dear friend and ex-wife, Dorothy L.
