DRAKESBORO – Jesse Carroll "Chalkeye" Gibson, 80, of Drakesboro, died Sunday, October 18, 2020, at 5:16AM at Greenville Nursing and Rehab. Mr. Gibson was born November 9, 1939, in Muhlenberg County. He was a retired coal miner and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the UMWA, a Kentucky Colonel, and mayor of Drakesboro for 18 years. He was a long-standing member of Russellville Gospel Tabernacle Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Shelba Jean Gibson; son Jesse "Jay" Gibson II; and step-daughter Beth Harper.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Tim) Peay; grandchildren Nick and Zack Peay, and Clay, Alex, Andy, and Lexie Gibson; brother Scottie Gibson; and step-children Pam Rowlett, Lisa Delahoussaye, and Scott Harper.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at 12:00 noon at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home, with Bro. Joel Sumner officiating, assisted by Bro. Michael Sumner. Burial in Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday after 10:00AM at the funeral home. Family and friends who are attending the visitation or funeral service are asked to wear a face mask for the safety of all those in attendance, in accordance with the governor's mandate. In compliance with health and public safety directives, capacity will be limited in accordance with state guidelines. Online condolences may be made at
